AdocPlot
Our plotting software consists of two parts. The Plot Server,
which does the actual plotting/printing and the Plot Client
which is used by the person that wants something printed. The
Plot Client is available in two versions, one for those that
have AutoDOC, our Document
Management System, and one for those
that do not have AutoDOC. The Plot Client which is linked to
AutoDOC has the advantage that you can deny access to drawings
being revised, etc.
The Plot Server should be installed on a separate, networked
computer. AutoCAD LT (not included) should be installed on this computer. By using an
Autodesk product to do the vectorization you can be sure that
the result is what you expected. No unpleasant surprises
with new drivers, dwg-format or fonts.
This way you only need one AutoCAD LT to do the plotting,
which saves a lot of money. Furthermore, you only have to
configure one computer to do the plotting, which saves you a lot
of time. And since the plot server can be "locked in",
you can avoid a lot of trouble caused by users that looses or
changes their configuration (although they did not do anything).
You just install and configure all printers you would like to
use on the Plot Server. Configure different sizes if you need
and select which printers you would like to enable for the
users. The Plot Server will take care of selecting the right pen
thickness, rotate depending on drawing size, scale the drawing,
etc, and print selected drawings.
The Plot Client is a small program where the user selects
which drawings to plot and sends them to the Plot Server to be
printed. Anyone in the company can use the Plot Client since it
is so simple and easy to use. You can even make your own Plot
Client without
much effort.
