AutoDOC
Some of the features in AutoDOC:
The graphic user interface of AutoDOC is very intuitive and easy to use.

Click on one of the search & query icons, enter your search query in appropriate fields, display
the result of the query. Simple as that!

Select one or multiple documents, right click (or use the menu), select what to do with the
document(s).
AutoDOC determines the status of the selected document(s) and activates all functions that you can
use. Functions that cannot be used are grayed out.
Sample: You approve a drawing. AutoDOC will then update the drawing with your signature so everybody
can see it has been approved. The drawing will be moved (checked in) to the appropriate directory as
well.
The status line at the bottom shows information about the current document:

In the above sample, you can see the path to the directory where the drawing file is located as well
as the release of the AutoCAD file (R15, i.e. 2000). The green color indicates that the drawing file
was found where is was supposed to be.
The next field shows the status of the document, Working, which means that the drawing has never
been approved previously and is still in work.
The third status field shows which project is current. You can find more information about this in
"Flexible project- and directory
structure"

AutoDOC is a two step install, first you install the server (click to enlarge picture).
Then you install the client from the server

No need to install updates to each workstation! AutoDOC has an unique update function
which distributes new versions automatically! Simply drop the new files to an "Updates" directory and
all users will get the new release automatically! Even new configurations can be distributed the same
way.
AutoCAD will be automatically configured for AutoDOC. No need to do any configuration
at all! (Except for AutoCAD release 14.01)
You can manage Word documents or other documents just as easy as you manage AutoCAD
drawing files.
You can specify if you wish that AutoDOC should separate drawings from other documents
under "Flexible project- and directory
structure". It is up to you if you want to register a document in AutoDOC or not. Other types of
documents (xls, cad, nc, etc) can also be handled by AutoDOC.

AutoDOC has been certified by Autodesk for
Inventor (both 32 and 64 bit).
The title block in an inventor drawing can be updated just as easy as an AutoCAD
drawing. Even custom iProperties can be used and updated, both iProperties in the drawing document and
linked iProperties in the Part Model!
Starting with AutoCAD 2000, Autodesk introduced the possibility to edit multiple
drawings concurrently. You can have several windows with different drawings open at the same time, and
switch between them (that is, assuming that all AutoCAD applications you use supports mde, multiple
documents environment). AutoDOC supports mde, so you can open 5 drawings and 5 Word documents
concurrently if you wish.
This is the description of the
"shelf" used to store documents that you currently work with. You can have different "shelf's", or
storage places if you prefer, for different kind of Word documents, etc. You can easily create
different directories that store various documents. "Standard" is default, but you could have QC docīs,
etc, it's up to the system administrator.

Autodesk's VoloView Express is used
to display drawings graphically in the AutoDOC viewer. AutoDOC can be configured to show the drawing
when you navigate in the database. A thumbnail preview is built in as well. NB! Voloview Express does
not work with all AutoCAD versions. We recommend that you let
AutoDOC create DWF files instead, they can be viewed by anyone
and loads much faster that a dwg file... This way anyone
can look at Inventor drawings as well.

You can easily print both
information about one or more documents as well as the document(s).
Just mark the documents and select "Print" from the menu. Simple as that.

To print all drawings and documents for a certain project: search the database for the
project, select "Print All displayed documents". Easy, quick, flexible and time saving.
AutoDOC keep track of which profile was used for a specific drawing, so you can use
different Autodesk applications and AutoDOC knows if a file should be opened for instance with a plain
vanilla AutoCAD or Mechanical Desktop.
